Jehovah Shammah?

Jehovah Shammah. The Hebrew word for the God who is there for you. As Christians we confess that God is omnipresent, meaning that he is everywhere over all creation. Most of us have been correctly taught that our Father is in heaven. Jesus specifically tells us that we are to pray “Our Father in heaven.”. Did Jesus mean that God was there and not here?

Think about it. When we are in God’s Word regularly, learning and meditating on it, by his Holy Spirit God is with us. When we are in the Word, God is there for us. Jehovah Shamma.

God’s Word tells us: “When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made everything he did successful, Joseph found favor with his master and became his. (God dwells in the moment.)” (Genesis 39:3-4a).

So, where is God? God is here, in you and in me because his Word lives in us. He is the Father who reigns in heaven while at the same time reigning in our hearts. When we picture God that way there isn’t a test in this life that we can’t pass successfully. God is here; and he is there.

“Heavenly Father, when life closes in on us one we often ask, “Where are You Lord?” How much safer and at peace we would be if we just discovered that You are in us and around us. We have nothing to fear. In Jesus name, Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
