Suffering journey?

Spiritual journey? Here’s a story: Bill Porter, born with cerebral palsy, was deemed unemployable and advised to collect disability checks. Refusing to give up, he sought a job with the Watkins Company, selling household products door-to-door. Despite initial rejection and severe physical challenges, he persisted. Ultimately, Bill became the company's top salesman nationally, proving his determination and resilience for over forty years.

Think about it. What made Bill Porter so special? Remarkably it was his pain and suffering that kept these things in focus for him.

God’s Word tells us: “Consider it pure joy …. whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance (James 1:2).”

Bill Porter relied on his customers for his livelihood and couldn't take anything for granted. Pain, a constant companion, created awareness and focus. It's a precious gift, driving us to remember God’s greatest gift: salvation in Jesus Christ. Like Bill's disability, pain and suffering help us focus on our eternal goal, reminding us daily to cherish our spiritual journey.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, grant us strength in our trials and teach us to find joy in our suffering. May our pain draw us closer to You, deepening our faith and perseverance. Help us to always remember Your eternal gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
